The difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is how you use them.
So, your life isn't going as planned. Nothing seems to be working your way. Your office is closing down and your roses are dying from a bug infestation. It's enough to make you get mad... to scream... to just give up all hope.
Sometimes things can seem so overwhelming. Without right or reason - it's just not "fair". But, it happens! It happens to all of us at one time or another... and certainly will again.
The real question is - what do we do about these obstacles... challenges... stumbling blocks? How do we get past them - stronger, happier, and more confident in our future?
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. Certainly not one single answer that works for everybody all of the time. That would be nice, wouldn't it? But, it's true what seem to be stumbling blocks in our life can actually be stepping stones in disguise. That's an answer in itself. For example:
Your office closing down might result in you getting a better job offer in a field of work you enjoy even more. A new start - an exciting new direction. Your roses dying might encourage you to replant a more bountiful array of foliage that draws rave reviews from friends and neighbors all Summer long.

Let's face it, most people don't like change. Usually change takes time, effort and money. It's much easier to continue in the rut we've carved out for ourself. We can operate pretty much on "autopilot". It's more comfortable.
Is that really a good thing for us? I'm not so sure it is. Change is inevitable. Change can create growth. Change can be fun, exciting and beneficial.
Yes, we can learn to view our stumbling blocks as stepping stones. We can use them to guide us through the inevitable changes we will encounter. So, if things aren't going the way you want in your life, look for the stumbling blocks and understand they can be stepping stones through your period of change.
